As she lay on her deathbed in a modest apartment in Coxsackie, New York, Alison’s thoughts often turned to the possibility of one last conversation with Mariah.

According to her friend and healthcare proxy, David Baker, Alison had spent the last month of her life in hospice care. David alleged that Alison’s family members were well aware of her condition. She was surrounded by the knowledge that time was running out. Despite the dire circumstances, Mariah never reached out to her dying sister.
